Alpamayo - the most beautiful

My collection of Peru programs - here
Is Mount Alpamayo in Peru really the most beautiful mountain in the world?
The title deliberately poses a highly controversial thesis: all mountains are beautiful in their own way - can any one be "the most"?
Alpamayo Summit and MCS AlexClimb High Camp on the Alpamayo-Kitaraju Pass
My answer is no.
Each summit has its own special features, and it is up to a person to determine how powerful the impression of the Mountain will be.
However, some summits truly possess a special attraction, charisma, and majesty that sets them apart from their surrounding, sky-high peaks.
Cordillera Blanca - an incredible diversity of ice peak shapes
These features cannot be explained rationally. Essentially, any peak is just a mountainous landform, a geological formation of rock, ice, and snow.
However, the sinking feeling you sometimes experience at the mere sight of these unforgettable features tells a different story.

I wouldn't say that mountain peaks are capable of being beautful... After all, beauty is a generalized quality that people use to describe objects they like – and this definition has very subjective boundaries.
Certainly, for some people, even a mountain of sausages on a plate will look more beautiful than any sparkling snow-capped mountain peak – but will that make the sausages the most beautiful?!
Mountains are an element that is experienced differently by everyone; their aesthetics are rooted in the feelings a person who is capable of experiencing being in contact with a completely different scale of space.
Here are a few examples. Of course, the list is endless, but below there are the most famous peaks, whose shapes anyone, even someone not involved in mountaineering, can identify unmistakably:
Matterhorn - perhaps the most famous silhouette of an Alpine peak in the world, which gave us the very concept of mountaineering as the idea of a "desperate fight for the summit."
The definition of "beauty" doesn't fit in at all with the evil, inaccessible verticals of the colossal rock, baring its teeth at the sky.

Matterhorn, Switzerland
Ushba. Certainly, this symbol of the Caucasus and the Soviet mountaineering is impossible to confuse with anything else and remain indifferent to the desperate inaccessibility that shines through in every line of this mountain's outline.
This mountain can only be called beautiful as a joke – the correctness of its form, its inaccessibility, willfulness, and treachery—these qualities more accurately reflect the character of this mountain.

Ushba, Georgia
Cerro Torre – an iconic peak located in the heart of Patagonia – an incredible combination of endless granite verticals reaching into the sky.
The sight is heartbreaking, but the beauty of this peak inspires awe at the mere thought of the incredible, inhuman scale of this vertical space.

Cerro Torre, Argentina
Returning to our theme of Nevado Alpamayo, one can certainly note its unique character, an unique combination of isolation, sophistication, the delicate sublimity of the ice forms, and an incredible regularity of lines.
The entire nobility of this peak's forms emphasizes its special, dominant, noble status. However, to sum up these traits with the word "beauty" would be unfair – too many facets of sensation awaken in a person upon close contact with this incredible creation of nature.
Alpamayo
However, to speak about Nevado Alpamayo as "The Most Beautiful Mountain," especially in the entire world, is meaningless – each peak is beautiful in its own way, and this beauty is not in physical form, but in the eyes of the beholder.
Nevado Alpamayo did not receive its title through objective comparison – it would be strange to imagine a "Mountain Beauty Contest" - a podium where mountain peaks parade before the jury with numbers on their hips...

The angle for which Nevado Alpamayo received its high title
The story behind the title "The Most Beautiful Peak in the World" - is much more prosaic.
This was just an assessment of the image of the mountain, which in 1966 the editorial jury of the German magazine Alpinismus awarded to photographer Leigh Ortenburger for a photograph of the summit of Nevado Alpamayo from its most beautiful angle (completely different from the usual cover photo of Nevado Alpamayo from its west face), presented at the exhibition.

You have to give credit where credit is due – no matter from which side you admire Nevado Alpamayo – this incredible spectacle takes your breath away even more than the oxygen-poor mountain air.
View of Nevado Alpamayo from the Santa Cruz Pass
Nature, unlike man, does not tend to create ugly things.
And giving mountain peaks primitive definitions like "beautiful," especially with the addition of "the most," means oversimplifying and reducing to a flat label something worthy of silent and profound contemplation.

Our Principles
AlexClimb Rule #1 - Safety First
From the very beginning of our activity, here nearly 16 years, the first Principle of work of School of mountaineering and rock-climbing of MCS AlexClimb is the Safety Priority. On the basis of this Principle all process of training is based, all programs and rounds are developed and carried out only within this main principle. We consider that at professional approach to development of programs, at personal discipline and correctly put motivation - occupations by mountaineering and rock-climbing are COMPLETELY safe. And from the return - all troubles and accidents in our sport come from nonprofessionalism, from ignorance or neglect by elementary standards of safety, from irrational motivation, from revaluation of own forces and opportunities. All these prerequisites we COMPLETELY EXCLUDE in our work - ours Rock-climbing, Ice climbing and Mountaineering are based on one Principle - the Safety Priority. In rock-climbing, mountaineering and ice climbing, the Priority of Safety of MCS AlexClimb-is your personal security and comfort irrespective of, than we are engaged - we train muscles and we work technology of the movement in the sports hall and on the rock climbing wall, we make the way through snowstorm to top or we relax on golden sand of the Caribbean beach after hot day of trainings on rocks. The Safety priority - the main credo of School of mountaineering and rock-climbing of MCS AlexClimb.
AlexClimb Rule #2 - Leave No Trace
Closely interacting with Nature, working with the active programs in mountains, woods, lakes and rivers, we perfectly understand the importance of carefull and respectfull bahavior towards the Nature, for its resources. From the very beginning of our outdoor-activity we adopted rules of Leave No Trace technique - the standard of behavior of the person accepted in all the civilized world in relation to environment and especially - to the wild nature. After all on the relation of people to the nature near which they exist, itself can draw dalekoidushchy conclusions on the relation of these people to... Where and as we didn't travel - we don't reserve any garbage, we try to reduce whenever possible our influence on environment to a minimum. We clear earlier zagryazyonny tourist parking of the left garbage, we take out and we take out to utilization places that to us other people left there. We consider that only thus, at personal individual consciousness of each citizen, each tourist, climber or autotraveller, we will be able to keep the nature surrounding us in its state, natural, suitable for life, - in it pledge of the healthy future for ourselves and our children.
