In which mountain system Mount Elbrus is located?
Mount Elbrus Mount Elbrus North side
The double-headed Mount Elbrus (5642 m), from where many climbers begin acquaintance with the high mountains, belongs to the Caucasian mountain system. The huge ice massif of Mount Elbrus is located away from the Main Caucasian Range, at a distance of about 15 km north from the main range line.
Mount Elbrus view from the East
Geologically, the volcanic origin of Mount Elbrus significantly distinguishes it from the most of the Caucasian mountains formed during the collision of the tectonic plates. Of the closest "relatives" of Mount Elbrus, we can list other mountains of obvious volcanic origin: Mount Kazbek, Mount Ararat, Mount Demavend and smaller peaks in the Stavropol region of Russia - especially the group of Pyatigorsk hills - Zmeyka, Mashuk, Zheleznaya, Razvalka, etc.
Mount Elbrus view from the South
The magnificent chain of the Caucasus Mountains stretched from the east to the west for about 700 kilometers. The highest part of the Caucasus Mountains is located on the section from Mount Elbrus to Mount Kazbek - the distance in a straight line from one mountain to another is approximately 180 km. In good weather, from the Mount Kazbek route you can enjoy the views of dawn on Mount Elbrus - this is one of the most memorable views of the Caucasus Mountains. The crystal clear mountain air creates the illusion of proximity of these snow-white giants, the scale of which is difficult to realize without measuring them with your own feet.
Mount Elbrus view from the acclimatization summit Kurmychi
Elbrus is much massive than all the other Caucasus peaks, the total area of Mount Elbrus glaciation is 134 sq. km. This is approximately 10% of the total surface of glaciers of the entire Caucasus. Looking at Mount Elbrus from an airplane or in a satellite image, you can be amazed at its scale! Even in comparison with the highest parts of the Main Caucasian Range, Mount Elbrus looks like a giant, and its ice fields are fascinating.
Mount Elbrus North side - Emmanuel Base Camp
This is the main, most famous and symbolic mountain of the Caucasus. For hundreds of kilometers, when viewed from the north, the snow-white dome of the double-headed mountain hovers above the fields and plains. Above the rugged fence of the Caucasus Range, when viewed from the south, from the rocky shores of the Black Sea, it is impossible not to recognize the outlines of the gentle snowy summits of Elbrus. From the east, at dawn, the dome of Mount Elbrus - the Main Mountain of the Caucasus, glows with a crimson bonfire. It is clearly visible for 300-400 kilometers from Dagestan, Chechnya, Ossetia, Georgia and even from Armenia.
Mount Elbrus view from Mount Kazbek
The climbing schedules for Mount Elbrus and Mount Kazbek coincide - the ascents start at 2-3 o'clock in the morning and take about 8 hours each. So often in real time, we can literally wave hand to our colleagues climbing in almost 200 km away. The quality of the cellular communication allows you to establish live video connection from both the top of Mount Elbrus and Mount Kazbek.
Climbing Mount Elbrus via South route
And in the powerful telescope you can distinguish tiny points on the line of the blue sky and snowy peaks. These are the lucky ones who managed to get to their goal and fulfill their dream - to get to the holy of holies of the Caucasus Mountains - the sacred summits of Elbrus and Kazbek - accessible only for the strongest.

Our Principles
AlexClimb Rule #1 - Safety First
From the very beginning of our activity, here nearly 16 years, the first Principle of work of School of mountaineering and rock-climbing of MCS AlexClimb is the Safety Priority. On the basis of this Principle all process of training is based, all programs and rounds are developed and carried out only within this main principle. We consider that at professional approach to development of programs, at personal discipline and correctly put motivation - occupations by mountaineering and rock-climbing are COMPLETELY safe. And from the return - all troubles and accidents in our sport come from nonprofessionalism, from ignorance or neglect by elementary standards of safety, from irrational motivation, from revaluation of own forces and opportunities. All these prerequisites we COMPLETELY EXCLUDE in our work - ours Rock-climbing, Ice climbing and Mountaineering are based on one Principle - the Safety Priority. In rock-climbing, mountaineering and ice climbing, the Priority of Safety of MCS AlexClimb-is your personal security and comfort irrespective of, than we are engaged - we train muscles and we work technology of the movement in the sports hall and on the rock climbing wall, we make the way through snowstorm to top or we relax on golden sand of the Caribbean beach after hot day of trainings on rocks. The Safety priority - the main credo of School of mountaineering and rock-climbing of MCS AlexClimb.
AlexClimb Rule #2 - Leave No Trace
Closely interacting with Nature, working with the active programs in mountains, woods, lakes and rivers, we perfectly understand the importance of carefull and respectfull bahavior towards the Nature, for its resources. From the very beginning of our outdoor-activity we adopted rules of Leave No Trace technique - the standard of behavior of the person accepted in all the civilized world in relation to environment and especially - to the wild nature. After all on the relation of people to the nature near which they exist, itself can draw dalekoidushchy conclusions on the relation of these people to... Where and as we didn't travel - we don't reserve any garbage, we try to reduce whenever possible our influence on environment to a minimum. We clear earlier zagryazyonny tourist parking of the left garbage, we take out and we take out to utilization places that to us other people left there. We consider that only thus, at personal individual consciousness of each citizen, each tourist, climber or autotraveller, we will be able to keep the nature surrounding us in its state, natural, suitable for life, - in it pledge of the healthy future for ourselves and our children.
